What CEMML Provides for DoD Installations
The CSU-CEMML Sustainable R&D Consortium for DoD Installations is a one-stop source providing green technology and sustainability resources to assist US military installations improve efficiencies as articulated in Executive Order (EO) 13514. This cross-campus consortium of researchers and faculty provides technical expertise in the development of a green economy and decreased dependence on fossil fuels at military installations. Teams are quickly formed to address specific challenges while also providing R&D at the service or DoD headquarters level. The Consortium addresses complex installation issues in a cost-effective and sustainable manner, such as:
- energy security through reduction and renewables,
- maintaining training lands while protecting biodiversity,
- fire management,
- environmental compliance and management of air, water, waste, and toxics,
- training and education on sustainability issues, plus outreach with cultural and community interaction,
- and sustaining the built infrastructure to adequately support human and environmental health on installations.
